Brass ring? Old wedding ring?

Found this at a park that is an old town square dating to early 1800s. Constantly used since. This looks to have same patina as other wedding bands I have seen. The stones are missing and were set crooked originally. Is this a common wedding band? Has AMA stamped on inside, makers mark or initials?? Thanks!

If it's brass, I'm thinking it's a home-made ring.

I've found several old rings with the plating worn off 2 have 14k stamps. which date to late 1800s my understanding is that they either couldn't afford a real gold ring or had been scammed by traveling salesman type vendors!
