Its not brass, its 18 K Sterling Silver May have been gold plated but is gone or may have never been plated to begin with, silver tarnishes none the less Clean it with Tarn Off and you will see Silver...

What you have there is a sterling silver ring that was poured in a mold that had the 18 K built into the mold to save time an labor when they poured other metals like gold. I once found a huge ring that had the Mercedes emblem on top and 18 KT on the inside so I thought it was white gold. I soon learned about the silver ring I had and the way it was poured.

I dont think so, Its a Brass ring that once had gold plate..
Its a fake. A old fake, and still a cool find. I haave several old Brass wedding bands a few still have some of the gold gilt left on them.
Thats not silver, and its not gold

Brass,Brass, and Brass. I have dug or scooped about 100 in the last 35 years. We called them "Carnival" rings as they were found in that type of area or in the water.

I'm a jewelry metalsmith, and have sterling, 14K and 18K stamps and I can turn anything into silver or gold. I don't do so, but others have for centuries, even millenia.
