Brass pieces found off of shipwreck from 1762 - what are they???

I recovered this little ornamental piece off of the stern of a wreck from the late 1700's. This ship was originally Spanish but was commandeered by the English. Forgive my lack of details, but I am sure you all understand why I need to be a little cagey...

When I found this piece, it was in one piece (shown in the pic I am holding) and when it was being cleaned by my "dive buddy" it broke apart into two pieces.

I am very much looking forward to your thoughts on this piece!!!

I have seen that design somewhere before but I cant remember. I think the Shipwreck forum people may be able to help. Can we see a photo of the backside? Could it be a drawer pull? Antique Hardware Drawer Pull Handle

My memory is starting to come back a little, Something similar was found and they yes they were finials from some kind of religious altar on board a Spanish ship but I will never find the pic..

THE FINIALS FOR ADIRONS I HAVE SEEN WERE SOLID . THIS IS FROM SOME ORNAMENT ITEM THE TWO HALVES WERE PROBALLY SOLDERED TOGETHER AT ONE TIME. ITS PRETTY NEAT.

It appears it was cast in 4 sections.

In reference to the brass pieces - I only found one, not the other (if there was a pair). I can get photos of the backside when I get home, I am not there for a few days.

Yes but is it split in 4 pieces? Do you see a soldered seam on the other half?

I see what you are saying, wondering if there could be another seam. Let me look at some other pics I have...

Maybe this pic helps? I don't see another seam, but as I mentioned, I am not around the piece. Just looking at pics I have.
