This item is bugging me because I feel I should know what it is. It looks like it screws into something, and perhaps some of the threaded part has broken off. Though it also appears as though something different broke off of the end.

It almost seems like a handle to perhaps a mirror or something? I feel like I've held something similar to it before. For some reason shoes comes to mind. Not sure why.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

That looks like a handle from Barrel Tap, I have a complete one that has a hart shaped handle...nice find :icon_thumleft:

It could also be an ornate screw for a swivel mirror that would be atop a bureau. One of a pair.

By the way, if you would consider parting with that piece for a couple of bucks, I'm looking for an old bronze finial and this might just do the trick for the lamp I am repairing.

Yes, it looks like some type of top or side finial screw as ipsilateral said. It would look right fetching on his lamp! Interesting find, Breezie
