Ok trying to find out not so much what it is but what its saying

1. Is Borlay a location?

2. Is falls cv texas or borlay to falls cv to tx where is falls cv texas or was?

Anyone who likes to research have at it I wont be able to get into the hstorical society unitl thursday and i dont know if they can even help me.


Ok someone on yahoo answers says this is a death plate and CV indicated confederate veteran.

For the word falls i found somthing that maybe related

Old Settlers and Veterans Association of Falls County in texas was started after the war was over as a gathering place for confederate soldiers. what falls cv could indicate this person was Miss Beata Karls - Son Borlay who was a falls county confederate veteran just a guess. The space in "karls son" was confusing

The name Beata Karlsson is Swedish, I would guess someone who emigraded from Sweden to USA. I tried to do a search on the name, found records of a few with that name, but nothing that connected them to your find.

It should say BARCLAY, Falls County, Texas

I guess something got lost in the translation...

The space in "karls son" was confusing

Not uncommon with Swedish names. Many inherited family names were originally patronymics consisting of the father's personal name with the ending '-sson' (Karl's son, Sven's son, Peter's son...)

Noticed what you wrote about Borlay and that the A had 2 dots over it. It's a Swedish letter (pronounced somewhat like AI in the word AIR), but the word isn't simular to any swedish word I can think of, nor names I can think of. Also the spelling of North Amerika caught my eye. In Sweden we spell America with a k, like on the plate.

As for the strange B that has kind of an A attached to it I have no clue.
