✅ SOLVED Brass or Copper? Key or Reed?

Don't want to be *that* person and post this in two different sections but can't figure out how to delete my first one that I put in the wrong section.

Anyone know what this might be? Nice weight to it. What I thought were holes on top are not. Just decoration I guess. Does have a slot on top.
Found at 1815 house/farm.

Part of a clasp. I would think a leather strap went into the slot.
