Brass Key Looking Thingy

Here's a very odd brass item I found today at an old house site in west central Mississippi. It looks a lot like the brass skeleton keys we find. However, this thing is 6 inches in length, it is made of brass and appears to be broken at the base. I've included 3 photos. Any help would be appreciated as always.

It looks like an ornate warded key for an armoire or some other type of vintage keyed furniture... "D"
