Found these items in a 3' square area a few months ago. Any thought on what they might be for, I've been told possibly knife parts but I would have thought that I would have found the blade as well...Thanks!

Those items look fimilar as knife guards and the base of the handle to a knife. In fact I am quite sure that they are, becuse I used to make knives.

They are from what is called a sub -hilt knife.

Thanks old digger and taz42o for the confirming the knife parts ID, I found a picture of a sub hilt knife and I'm certain that that is what they are for. old digger would it be possible to have someone rebuild this knife and what do you think the approx cost would be? Seems like with the size of these parts that it would be one BIG knife.

Easy to rebuild . About all you need is a blade and handle. Is the pommel hole threaded?
Biggest price is blade and labor if you have someone else assemble it for you.
Blade will have to have proper tang to fit your parts or you would need to do machine work.
Price will be based on quality of blade.

They are fighting knives from what I read, but I won't be fighting or skinning anything any time soon.

I agree fighting/killing. I also agree, there is no modern day use for a knife this size in the states except possibly a survival knife.. But a very cool find and nice display ater you restore it.
