I don't think so. This is very old brass. Could it be part of the tip of a flag display?

Piece from the tip of a Rain Bird sprinkler?

After looking at some images of a Rainbird sprinkler, I think that's what it is.

Could you post a picture to confirm because I believe this piece to be from an old fort less than a mile from where I dug this?

Use Bing search engine and type in Rain Bird sprinkler and then click on IMAGES...you will get multiple pictures...some are an exact match to your piece.

I agree with Artie Moon; I think it's part of a flag holder. :) Breezie

I know I've seen this before. Can anyone confirm the flag holder theory with a picture?

The brass end on the sprinkler does closely resemble this item, including the tapered flange on the one side. And the force required to break it off could quite possibly result in the bent tip.

Look at the triangular fin that sticks out on one side...that's not on the flag pole holder.

It could be from a fort. The grass at a fort needs watering just like the grass in your yard. Excellent ID as an impact sprinkler part!
