I recently acquired a bayonet with a brass handle with the marking of an A in a circle with star above it and the numbers 11 9 41 handle. The blade is 14 inches long with an A two scales and C . It has a leather case. Can some one identify it and possibly what it may be worth? Also where it may be from and what war? Also what condition would you rate it?

This appears to be a French Chassepot bayo. 1870s - 1918 use .. that has been cut down..original length is quite long like a short sword ..many were cut down after the first world war .& used by other countries. Any markings on the back spine or scabbard ?

I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard kecarafello! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country). You might also consider adding your state (or country) to your displayed profile (SETTINGS -> EDIT PROFILE) so if you ask a question, etc. - people may have more success helping you (your location may help, etc.)...

I think it was for the German made Argentine Model 1891 Mauser Rifle. I had an identical one with Aluminum handle at one time and it fit the rifle
