Does anyone know what this is?

It has 16 teeth on the gear. A small hole on the inner cylinder that reminds me of a line grip on a weed eater.

Overall it's 1.7" long. Gear diameter 0.77". The thin plate diameter is 0.65". ID between gear & plate is 0.84" and the cylinder is 0.39".

After I cleaned it up, my best guess was that it was the main gear spool of a bait cast reel, but per the dimensions, that would make it beyond sub micro!!

Because you posted only side-view photos, I can't be certain, but the "gear" looks more like ratchet teeth than gear teeth. (The difference is important for identifying the object.) Please make and post an end-view photo to show the teeth from that angle.

That would be close to the right size but what purpose would the hole have?
Not sure that is what it is. Most brake adjusters are two part.
Maybe the hole was for a cable end that would be for some type of rachet system.
I'm just thinking out loud here.

I think I know what it is, but I will need to find a photo somewhere to confirm it. It has to do with a ratcheting rein retractor, but that's all I remember right now other than I posted one of them years ago on here, but can't find that post either.

I'm working on all the suggestions. Thank you all.

Please understand, I don't post an item on day 1. After I've had enough on Google guessing the key words, I have to post.

Part of a film winding mechanism from a vintage camera?

I am still looking for the photograph, but in the meantime, here is the patent and diagram of the device I am talking about.

I just love the way you guys describe stuff, Really tho .

I'd have called it "a circular Saw type on one end" . lol
