brass fish thing

Found this at an old farm site I have been VERY productively hunting the last week. The center slot looks like it had a plate over it for there ar small screws at either end, and some pieces of where the plate broke off. Possible a decorative name plate for a door?? any ideas? Thanks.

I don't fish, but looks like a lure.

Which I found Hundreds of types.

I believe it had Pieces attached that made it Churn the Water.
but it is just a guess.

I take it the other side is the same ?

Jeff...thanks for the reply, I do fish recreationally and am a commercial fisherman as my profession...this is more decorative than functional as a lure, however,I;ve been wrong before and certainly will be wrong again... But do believe I am correct in saying this is decorative. Thanks for the input...

It looks to me like it would have hung on the wall and had a thermometer in the center portion.

either that, or it was a fish weight and length measurer...

It looks like it could have been the receiving end of a door chain..... ya know what I mean? The type that allows you to open the door slightly while the chain is still connected. What do you think?
