I dont know what it is but I see what looks like two rivets.

During the last 37 yrs. our family has refinished alot of trunks for our antique business, and I've never seen a lock plate like that on a pine & tin trunk with oak/pine slats. Also, the rivets look too long for a traveling trunk. It may be a lock plate, but it's not on the trunks made from late Victorian to Turn of the Century as shown below. :) Breezie
