Found this on the Truckee tail on the West slope. Found a rein guid not to far from this piece. There is heavy wear on the tip and a small hole is visible where it is worn through. The hole near the big end I assume is where a fastener would go. Odds are this was mounted on a piece of hard wood. 1 3/4" length, opening is 15/16", 11/16" small end diameter, and the neck on the end/tip is 9/16". X4... The angled wear is typical, from pushing the vehicle back into the shed after the horse is unhooked.

I have never seen one that fancy around my area. The small diameter gives a clue to it being from something lighter like a buggy, compared to a delivery wagon pulled by a single big draft horse.

someone recently referred to the two wooden poles as a "tug".

Thanks all, I agree, tip on a buggy pole, along those lines.
