I picked this up from a local thrift shop for cheap. I'm curious if anybody can identify what exactly it is and what it may have been used for? It appears to be made of brass and stands 6.5 inches tall with the lid closed. It's width is approx 7 inches and depth is approx 5 inches. There is a lion head with loop through its mouth on both sides. The lid is attached and swings up to open. The lid and lions appear to be slightly magnetic, but the rest of the container does not appear to be. :icon_scratch:

ice bucket?

Based on what little research I've done so far, I'm leaning towards ice bucket myself. I've just not been able to find a perfect match on Google, etc.
There is no date or anything else that gives any idead of its age.

Looks new or very well kept. I once had a planter with those same lion heads. But mine was not shiny. I buffed it forever trying to make it shiny again.

Swampcreek got it in my opinion. "Teacaddy" was the first thing into my mind too.

Wow...tea caddy or ice bucket - two very good suggestions.

Tea caddy is a very good suggestion; however, the only ones I've seen were rectangular (somewhat in the style of cigar boxes). Maybe for loose tea? Either way, I prefer it as an ice bucket ... I'll take a mixed drink over tea, anyday ! ;D
