Hey everyone, found this yesterday at a site dating to the early 1900's. It looked cool so i kept it, but have no idea what its from. My first thought is furniture or trunk.

Any thought?

Note: from the back, it looks like is was bolted on something as you can see the threads.

I'm soaking it now since last night and will try to scrub and add a better pic. The top of the shield is a Knight's helm, but really no writing.

Not sure i can think of any automobile that had this on it, very interesting, thanks for the lead. I'll follow this and see where it takes me
