I found this at a civil war skirmish site where fired and dropped bullets were also found. Any ideas?

Hey arrowhead82!! It appears to be the Cinch Ring off of a saddle!! The flat surface would be the top and obviously the round area the bottom surface where your leather strap would adjust!! GO BACK, there is probably more!! GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!

VERDE, I would agree except for the fact that it has two small screw holes on the top of the flat part. does that work with your theory?
