during research i found flies and dragonflies....this is marked and has numbers on the inside...

These animal, insect brass things come up all the time where I'm at tho that one is nicer or more ornate than most, they are often referred to as trinket dishes not ashtrays. I have bought & sold a good 25 of them in the past. Again yours is an extremely exceptional example!
