After looking at all the embossed characters, they are seem to represent, Music, Art, and Transportation.

Most interesting find :)

In these 2 areas, are they 'natural' breaks, or do you think there was some type of attachment(s).

I believe breezy is correct.it appears to be a stamped hinged lid with small catch opposite hinge.common on pill/mint tin etc.And if you use this product you are like the upper crust in society..lol

an avenue for research only.a further observation would indicate that it was one time use or disposable.

my two cents

The pictures seem whimsical, like from a toy, from back in a time when more value was placed on the arts. - just a thought.

Breezie - Confirmed its brass. Its 1 1/2" in diameter. Much like you I thought there were only 2 holes but there are 3. Two larger square ones to the left and right of the painter (one looks like natural break but see a 90 degree corner. The third is just below the car and is a more narrow rectangular slot.

I found this a few feet away and at same depth as a 1931 radiator emblem.

Since we now know it was hinged, and the size is 1.5 inches, it could be an ink well cap or a pill box lid as BigFoot said.
