Found this today in a park. I think its a cap of some kind. When cleaning it up I saw the star on top and now am really curious as to what it may go to. Any ideas?

I can't tell from the photo....is the inside threaded? If so, it might be a lid for a match holder.

Not threaded, just a tapered edge. The star is 6 pointed like the star of David. Thought it was a shotgun shell when it popped out. Just one of those finds that makes you say to yourself "thats weird".

Maybe a top to a cigar tube?

Wow ! That is a cool find! Early in the 1900's Dodge Bros. incorporated the star of David in their logo. It might be a cap to cover something on one of their autos. Maybe a battery cap or something in that order? Wish I could be of more help, but I thought a stab in the dark was worth a guess. Good luck on getting this identified! I will be interested in what you find out.

Maybe a cap to a gunpowder tin. Brass would have been used to prevent a spark.

Since it looks substantial, could it be a vintage butt cap for a fishing rod? The 6 pointed star in a circle could have been the logo.

Interesting find :)
