brass buttplate for a pistol? A part of a sword?

I dug this next to a Chinese Temple, built in 1809. But before it was a Temple it was a Chinese school. Any Ideas? Its made of brass, has a curve to it. A hole in the end. I found a percussion musket hammer about 20 yards away. Possibly Chinese or Japanese

It doesn't appear to be pistol or sword related to me, but I am not sure what it is.

It does look like part of the handle of a Chinese military style saber. I don't know how old...

You may want to post this one on a sword forum.

I would say you are correct. I searched many swords but didnt see that one.

Awesome finds, I would love to metal detect in China, probably tons of stuff there. There's a metal history going back thousands of years over there.
