I found this brass buckle about seven inches under the grass about forty feet from a railroad track. It does not have any markings on it and I was hoping that TNet friends could tell me if it is railroad, sports, military, civilian, horse tack or (?) related. Any thoughts on approximate dates of use? The photo is of the reverse of the buckle, showing a small nub in the middle. The front of the buckle is smooth. Thanks, Subterranean

Thanks Crusader and Kuger, "Conway" it is, after checking mine against many photos of similar buckles. Most likely horse or mule tack. Maybe a mule used to haul material for the railroad? I think I will re-hit that area for more relics! Sub
