Brass (?) Bowl marked India

Hi,
I'm new around here, so I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I found this small, (I think) brass bowl in my dad's things.

The only marking is where it says India on the bottom. I tried looking on eBay, but I didn't see anything close to this. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
