I found this in my back yard in the San Antonio area of Texas. My house was built in 1978 but there was some kind of activity here before that. I recently found two old horseshoes, a buffalo nickel, and a lady's brass compact from the 1930s in my yard.
The bell was about 5-6 inches deep. Can anyone help me date the bell and maybe give some idea as to its original use?
Thanks,
Diggin'Dave

Clean it to see if there is any writing, even on the inside rim.

Agreed, it looks like a lot of bells I see with "INDIA" crudely engraved somewhere, sold as tourist pieces. I would look to see if it says that somewhere.

I've literally found hundreds of bells and bell fragments detecting homesteads over the years.
Your find looks to be a European sleigh or animal bell.

I'm thinking it's likely Swedish or possibly Swiss in design.

A very nice find,
Dave

Mexican wind chime. Found many in San Antonio, heck even purchased a few in Mexico.
