I found this bell a while back at a civil war era camp.

It measures 2 3/8 total high...bell itself 1 3/4. 1 1/4 across top and 2 1/2 across bottom.
It appears to be cast. It is brass, I think? It has a number 2 on the top. It was found at a
civil war era camp along with some of my best finds. I was just wondering if anybody knows it's use?
I also found several other pieces of metal with a #2 on them...they look to be some sort of exploded
stove lid? They are still sitting on the site in a pile of metal a foot high and a foot and a half across.
The original owner of the property died and I'm still trying to get permission from the new owner to go
retrieve my pile. Is this a military bell or something totally different? It was found alongside minnieballs,
union buttons, a cannonball, half of a U.S. plate, etc. in the middle of a pretty large wooded area. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lairmo
Thanks again.
