The black item appears to be an early electrical connector for say a toaster or skillet, or even early electronic test equipment... etc... .
As for the age of the AAA item appears to been enameled, maybe look up the history of the AAA for an idea.

auto badge. it seems to me that i rember these being a thing you mounted on your car just to show that you were a member. at one time it was chrome plated brass and baked enamel. i think it mounted by the rear license plate.

isn't steubenville where the first electric traffic signal in the U.S. was installed?

im thinking the other thing is a tamper proof seal. could have been for a rail car, semi trailer, electric or water meter and the list goes on.

AAA is composed of 51 separate associations across the United States. The age and date of each individual group varies.

I found a precurser to the California AAA which dates in the early 1910-1920's. It is cast iron and was mounted as a radiator cap emblem.

The one you found is probable from mid-century or later. Cannot find the precise date but will keep looking.

I found that sending a pictural copy to AAA got immediate attention...might try the same tactic.
