Hello fellow rock hunters!

I'm late posting these, having collected them while in Kentucky during the first week of January. While searching the area, I came across a large tabular piece of stone measuring approximately 40" by 27" and completely covered in brachiopods! What an awesome tabletop it would make! Unfortunately, I didn't take a pic of it.

Anywho, here's what I collected.

Cool! That bottom specimen is just loaded with some really nice ones.

Old stuff! The middle pic is of a nice schelwienella umbraculum I believe, middle Devonian brachiopod, appx. 390 million years old. Very cool.

Nice find congrats. I have found them in Arizona but the stone they are encrusted in is so different from the way they were made in your neck of the woods.

Amazi g I need to learn more about fossils

At the I-94 and the 696 interchange in Michigan, there is a section of grass covered hill in between the ramps that has a rock like this.. It is bigger than a Volkswagen bug.
I used to hang out there during high school.
It is pretty incredible.
Your post triggered the memory. :icon_thumright:
