I have a friend and she showed me a bracelet she got from her grandfather who was in World War 2. She wanted to know if anyone knew anything about it. I told her I would post it here cause you guys and gals are the greatest :)
I think it is made of brass not sure but has a lion holding a sword. From my research I know there was a conference in Tehran in 1943 which is also on the bracelet. Please let me know if you know anything about it and I will pass the information on to her.

My guess would be that it was a souvenir piece. It's entirely possible that her grandfather bought it there on leave or something. I'd suggest that she research his service record to see where he was during the war. If he was ever in Iran it should show up in there somewhere.

The "lion and sun" motif was used on the Iranian flag from 1846-1980, but has an even older history there (see link). Iran was used as a through way to get needed supplies to the Russians, thus we did have soldiers and sailors there. I think the assessment as a souvenir is probably correct.

My deceased father in law served with the US Army during WW2 in the Iran / Iraq area, This was a major supply line into the backdoor or Russia , My spouse has a Map that was sold there during the war with the route and all types of Nazi / US / Russian Markings on it, If I could get to it I would take a picture but its been in deep storage for 30 years ------ yes there were US troops there , If he was in motor transport . supply ect Its a good chance he was there Attached is a link read the section " aftermath " http://changingthetimes.net/resources/iran_in_world_war_two.htm

That type of jewelry is called filigree and might very well be silver instead of brass.

Looks like genuine silver to me. I would consider it a piece of sweetheart jewelry. This would be a souvenir a GI would get for his girl or mother back home that would say a little about where the soldier is or what branch of the service he was in and another type jewelry may be the plane he was flying.
