Got out for two hours late this afternoon and ended up digging mostly mid-tones; there were very few high tones. Several of the mid-tones turned out to be nickels.

From the mid-tone responses I dug a buckle fragment with a deep green patina. Another mid-tone yielded a silver bracelet.

The one high-tone relic is a bit of a puzzle to me. It is dome-shaped, looks like brass and the back shows evidence of iron and lead.

The button on the face of it, appears to be a 17th century "nipple" button, however, these normally were not made of two types of metal, so I'm not sure on this one.

Congratulations on the nice silver jewelry! :occasion14:

Great finds. Keep on swinging those mid tones and the gold will soon follow.

Its the top of a 2 piece 18th C Button, showing signs of mercury solder.

Cool finds thanx for Sharing!

Thx WaterScoop! I was chased off the field by cold hands and feet....and stopped saying "This is my last hole"!

There is no last hole. Keep pounding it!

Thx Crusader for the ID! You and smokey recognized something old. To me the patina and the style spoke of age but I know nothing of "nipple" buttons. Now I know a little.

Kicking butt that's SWEEET silver is always great. Thanks for sharing with us, Tommy

Thx azdirtdigger! That was another mixed-tone surprise....jewelry in the plug!

Your buckle piece also appears 18th century. Might be some real goodies on that site. Mercury? Yuck. Do not taste it!

Thx Tommy! This site just keeps giving. Was going slow and listening to the external speaker (head-phone jack not functional at this point). When it's spring and the grass is cut there will be a lot more area to search again.
