Boyd's Galvanic Battery
Hi all,
Been forever since I posted because it has been forever since I found anything worth posting...
Weeks ago I did find my first silver coin that was not a dime though. A small triangle of grass in a turn around in the local park yielded the 1905 Barber pictured below. Still have not dug a silver Washington or SLQ, this was a thrill.
This weekend I swung a lot but got pretty well skunked so I went to plan B, the trusty bottle dump. I dug a few marbles and some local milks, then a heavy disc fell out of the area i was excavating. I thought coin at first and then heavy token of some sort (I don't wear my glasses when I dig). Turns out I dug a Boyd's Galvanic Battery. It was a quack medicine device to be worn around the neck to cure all sorts of woes.

It will be a nice addition to my patent med bottle collection.
The battery is made of discs of nickel, copper and silver which brings up questions as to the best way of cleaning it. Any suggestions
Thanks for looking,
Mr R
