Hello all,
Finished a box of pennies I got last week. The results -

Wheaties - 9 (1942 44D 45 48 51D 54Dx2 56D 57D)
Copper - 689
Canadian King George - 2 (1944 46)
Canadian copper - 25
Canadian zinc - 13
Dimes - 1
Errors - 1 (minor blistering, 1999D obverse)
Foreign - 1 Spain 2 Euro cents, 2001

I find it quite interesting now that the Canadian currency is worth more than our US currency!

Bob

Sweet Finds bob,
Those common wheats add up when they sale for 6 cents a peice and you paid a pennie for them.
Ive been saveing all the canadian change I find.

Next time im in ca Im going to get some coins with it. ;D

Happy hunting,
CC

Sorry about double posting,

Hey bob,
Can you tell me more about,
Errors - 1 (minor blistering, 1999D obverse)

I need to learn more about errors.
I know some can be very valuable.
I sort 1000 plus in pennies a week so I need to look at them harder.

Whats the Term Blistering mean?

I Found a 1920's Coin that only had 192? The ? is clean unstruck no tampering has been done to it I looked under a scope.
Any clue on what that would be worth?

Thanks,
Cc

Hello CC,
It sounds like the 1920's you are talking about had a grease-filled die in the last digit. As far as I know, they generally aren't worth much, but it wouldn't hurt to check with an expert (which I am not).
Here's a pic of my 99D minor blistering, which is most likely not worth anything at all. I also included a pic of a 2xxx penny, that had the last 3 digits of the date come up missing from a grease-filled die.
HH,
Bob

Great finds Bob. You're right about the value on the slight blistering being negligible. Still a cool curio though.

CC, the bubbles are due to trapped gas during the copper plating process. A favorite coin dealer I knew when I was young described it as similar to spreading a sheet on a mattress but not smoothing out the wrinkles. They are very common in the early zincolns (1982-84) but less so since then.
