Box found in Auction box

Found this in a box of other boxes in a box lot at an auction. I have always had a fascination for cigar boxes, memory boxes etc. It looks to be hand-carved. What really attracted me is the latch...never seen one quite like it. There are no other identifying marks. Did I find a treasure or just a home-made box?

could also be an indain made jewelry box -- either way asian or indain ---it does not look overly old by its design -- still a nice find however

Great lookimg box. I'm not sure of the age but the detailing is great. The dove tailing is very well done and does not appear to be machine made.
