my brother has had some bad luck with his discovery 3300, water damage so he has decided to go back to his 101 and put a 10" coil on it. I just wanted to know if any one could tell me the depth he is goig to get with it?

I bought a BH 202 a while back for the price and to let other people use. I haven't had much luck with it and found the depth was not so good and the ID was so so.
If you want to be relay happy with a detector you will need to start about the $4oo range with a Garrett, Fisher, Whites or Tesoro which has a lifetime warranty and are very light. these all are great MD and are easy to get.
Keep in mind these are detector's I have used and know about .There are a lot out there I can't say about for I haven't used....thought I'd put that in there I didn't want to get on anyones toes about who has the best.
The best detector is the one you find you like the best.
I have a 12 inch head for my Fisher CZ 70 but very seldom use it. It's heavy and I can't tell the depth difference from my 8 inch head.
