So, awhile back I bought a whole box of Real Picture Post Cards at a garage sale for $20. I've already sold one card for $35 so anything I make now will be all profit.
I have a couple of questions....Look at this Post Card:

RPPC Oil Derrick - Copy (2) (894x797).jpgRPPC Oil Derrick (652x1024).jpgRPPC2 Oil Derrick - Copy (2) (657x1024).jpg
Are those wooden Oil Derricks in the background? The card says in pencil "Dwight & Reid Ward"---anybody recognize those names.....were they Famous Oilmen?

And here are 2 postcards with Army(?) guys in them---look like maybe WWI era uniforms?
The first one says on the back "My Sweetheart 1918 Ray Anderson"
RPPC Ray Anderson (641x1024).jpgRPPC Ray Anderson2 (643x1024).jpgRPPC Ray Anderson - Copy - Copy (526x967).jpg

The second Military Postcard has 3 guys in it and says on the back "Earl B. & Buddies". RPPC Earl & Buddies - Copy (1024x815).jpgRPPC Earl & Buddies (1024x627).jpgRPPC Earl & Buddies2 (1024x629).jpg
Are those military uniforms these guys have on? Army? Infantry? WWI?

Here's the Post Card I sold on ebay for $35---I listed it and within a few hours it sold. It was of Davis West Virginia, showing 2 views(1885 & 1911)....I guess Davis was a log town(http://www.daviswva.com/history.htm). Kinda neat, huh? :icon_thumright:

Thanks for looking and any help will be appreciated!!

Just to let you know... the Davis, W.Va. postcard is titled "Birth of a City" and was originally photographed by William Henry Jackson, a known photographer and painter. Probably a Detroit Publishing card. He was the president of the company, they published photographs and postcards. Many of them being examples of his own works, that card being no exception I would guess. That is a nice rppc. If you listed it for $35 and it sold that quick, i'd say it was probably worth more.

The ones with the dudes in uniforms will sell if you get creative on the title with words like "gay interest" in the title somewhere. Here is what i'm talking about- rppc gay interest | eBay Also, they look like maybe military school uniforms as opposed to actual U.S.Military uniforms, don't they? Here is a link where you can date the stamp boxes on rppc's- Playle's: Real Photo Postcards, How to Identify and Date Real Photo Vintage Postcards

The other ones your showing will sell better if you add "gay interest" in the title somewhere. Great! Thanks diggummup....I have some neat street scenes from Springdale, Arkansas that I'm going to list on ebay next. There is a Springdale M'L'G co.(Milling?) post card showing an old sawmill building or something and an Ozark Acme Fruit Farm with a bunch of women in poke bonnets & men standing next to a big pile of apples, SL Boon Proprietor.
I just love RPPCards---the real life/one of a kind views are so neat. These would probably even make good reference for genealogists and treasure hunters from that area.

And thank you for the link on how to date the postcards---I'm gonna save that for future reference!

Look like Oil Derricks to me.
