hey guys

just bought this coin lot on ebay..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...si=gAhqP1PN7JlNknSqOCN%2FnFjdyWs%3D&viewitem=

was that a good deal?

it's a mix of canadian silver coins - 10 quarters and 10 dimes all pre-67'

paid $48.39 (+shipping $3.48)

i usually don't buy silver on ebay but i got the ebay bucks certificate last week and decided to use it to get some cheap silver if i could find any. that was the best i could find.

do you guys ever buy silver or other coins/bullion on ebay? can you find like really good deals on there sometimes?

I'd say that was a decent deal, you paid less than melt for those Canadians. I have bought silver and other coins off of Ebay, but there is much competition (or shill bidding) on the coins that I like, which include the early US bust halves. I can't say that I've ever had a great deal, but I'm always looking!

You paid about $52 for about $59 melt, so I'd say you did ok. I have bought silver off eBay, if you bid on enough stuff, you can get good deals.

you paid 52 for 59 melt.If your a collector, good deal..if you want silver,I'd pawn it fast as the price has dropped in the past few days

I've purchased some coins on E-Bay. Mostly a few years ago when silver was lower. But you can get some good deals even now. Just make certain you check on the grade of the coin and if it has been "cleaned". That's important!
Good luck

remember always that candain silver coins are 80% silver (1920 to 1967) vs 90 % silver us (1964 or earlier)--- however 1919 or earlier are sterling silver .925 (or 92.5%) thus even higher silver content than american coins . :icon_thumright:

I know that cleaning old silver is a no-no, but why do they still sell for good money? I like the older silvers, bust and seated halves for instance. Common date cleaned still sell for an arm and a leg (Ebay).

thanks for all the replies and good advice.
i am a collector but these were bought for silver content only. i know it's not a great deal but as long as it's below melt and using my ebay bucks certificate i'm happy with it.
i was buying any silver i could get for the last 2 weeks and now it looks like it's finally an up trend.
tomorrow being the end of the month i'm expecting a nice jump up (maybe even starting tonight after 1:00 am), and i won't be surprised if it reaches $30 (probably not $30 but i think we WILL see a nice little correction). and if it does - i'm selling some tomorrow.
keep your eyes open on silver prices tomorrow!
have a great week!

I have bought plenty on ebay but the shows have the best prices by far.Sometimes you can find a deal on ebay but not often. I wouldnt advise using them unless you cant get to a show. In december i got 2% ebay bucks ,4% upromise promo and 1% on my credit card .This from a seller selling foreign and 40% us at 10% under spot free shipping. The shows i was just at had 90% at spot or a little less and silver art bars at spot. The same art bars currently going at about 6 dollars over spot on ebay.

16 silver quarters for 20 bucks including shipping is an amazing deal! It almost sounds good enough to start a new subsection called eBay hunting. I used to bid on all lots of silver dollars where the price per coin was $10 or less including shipping. I would bid on 50 lots for every one I won. It was a good way to fill my safe deposit box w silver. Lately I was thinking if bidding $18 for every peace or Morgan, but this quarter deal is much better than that!

ask the seller if he has more lots to sell, maybe he'll sell to you off-ebay so he saves fees and you get a better price lol
