The fellow I hunt with uses one and he uses it well! I use an XLT, but the DFX is a much better detector and I'd bet that you are going to be very happy using it. Congratulations!

What the heck!? I thought that Santa was bringing you a DFX, Wayne! 8)

I use a DFX, too, Wayne. It works for me!! ;D

I've been thinking about getting the Sunray and the 1400 coil, too. Let us know how you like it. :)

Got my DFX yesterday. Had it out in the yard that I have covered many time with a Prizm V, found a quarter. Going to a nearby park in minutes for a shakedown cruise.

Got the Dfx out for the first time today, nice and blue skies. Tried a few different programs. Pretty different from the xlt. Mananged to pull a 23 wheat, and a 39 merc from the same hole at 5.5-6 inches using the deep silver eeprom program. Cant wait till next time.

I just wanted to add that a couple of weeks ago I was crawling down a steep cliff to access a local beach holding my dfx firmly strapped in my arm. I took quite a spill and thought that I had demolished my detector. I was super supprised to see no real damage took place, I mean i tweaked the control box a centimeter or so but bent it back and it works just fine. you'd be supprised how durable that machine is.

Brand new one for me on the 22nd of Nov.......still learning

1235ce, I have only used it once, but am already seeing diffrences between xlt and dfx. The dfx is utilizeing both frequencies at once and giving an opinion on the target with more info to draw from. The deep silver program almost acts like it has a surface blanking feature. Most decent tones were about 4 inches or better. Anyone know? I and 2 other friends hammered that yard. 2 of us with xlt's, and 1 with Minelab. Most of our older targets are from about 3.5 to 5 inches. The merc and penny had a nice solid tone at 5.5 to 6. I am sure it will take some learning, but I am looking forward to it. I will be picking up a dd 1400 from the factory in 3 weeks. Cant wait.

Try this.. Load up the eeprom deep silver program, and then Ground Balance.
Crank up the AC to 85.
Turn up the DC 3 or 4.
Set your Pre-Amp to 4
Set your sweep speed to 4 or 5
Ground Balance the machine again.
Sweep slow.
Your machine might need a minutes or two to clamdown.
If it won't stop acting crazy take down the Pre-Amp to 3. Always ground balance your DFX after setting the Pre Amp (Hit enter, after making the change)
I have been playing with this setup for awhile and started hitting quarters at 9 to 11 inches, Dimes at 6 to 9 inches, And the Buffs are showing up.

It works for me.. You might get diffrent results depending on your area.
