Bought in market in laos

Got these Small bell type things in an out of the way market in Laos last week, anybody tell me what they are used for? And if worth anything? Was told by a very old lady they were once used as money, or as a kind of payment. IMG_0445.webp[ATTACH
 

The very old lady is correct in that bells were used as she describes. They were also worn as jewelry and sewn onto clothing as a means as depicting wealth. The more you jingled, the more wealthy you were. As to the origin of your bells, I'm of no help.

Yes , a bit too much info ! More confused now, ha ha , will spend a bit more time looking at it!

Quick update, found very similar bells in Bangkok 's chattuchak market for 20 Baht, around 60 cents ! Back to work on Monday!
