So one of my friends had a Whites Eagle Spectrum their grandfather gave them as some of you might of known from a previous thread. I know he didn't use it much when he bought it and my friend hasn't really used it either, so its still in pretty decent shape. The only issue with it, is that it needs a new rechargeable battery pack. The one that was in it is pretty much destroyed. I'm looking forward to seeing what it can still do. It sucks that the packs you can buy for it now are like $35, but I think it will be worth it. If anyone would happen to have any extras that might work that you might sell for cheaper, let me know!

Whites also makes an 8 AA battery pack for the Spectrums . I have'nt use my rechargable since it started loosing charge 2 yrs after I bought it new . The 8 AA pack lasts about 10 - 12 hours .

Do you happen to know a link to it? because I can't seem to find one that says it works with the spectrum

Someof the older ones used the C cell packs as well, you might ask on White's forum and there's a section for the XLT and spectrums you'll probably want to post in that section or the ask whites section. HH

I know what rechargeable pack I need...they sell some on Kellyco for $35..I already have a charger for it, just need a new pack. I was just hopin I might find one for cheaper

Would it be better for me to buy one of the "C" cell holders and then just buy the batteries in bulk?

It would be nice to have as at least a backup pack, in case your rechargable runs out of juice. The recharable packs don't give as much starting voltage as say duracell batteries thats why I didn't buy a rechargable for my MXT as the starting voltage is about the voltage I change my batteries at. When the voltage is at 10V at startup I'll change my batteries because I notice the startup beep is at a lower volume, which I worry about hearing those deep whisper targets at that point and also notice when the voltage is that low its gets worse EMI problems as well. When it shows 10V at startup it probably drops lower after a little use because of the power draw, they do make some rechagable batteries that the AA's run at 1.6V and the MXT can handle them because of the voltage regulator in the MXT can handle up 15V, you might ask on the whites forum to see if the eagle spectrum could handle those before using them. Those rechargable batteries are the powergenix batteries if your interested in checking those out but be sure to ask whites what voltage the regulator in the eagle spectrum will handle first. HH

Wingmaster seems to have good info . I would go with asking Whites .......

I think I would be better off at least for now to just buy a battery holder and buy batteries in bulk. I like rechargeables but your right about the voltage not being as good and stuff. I have a tesoro vaquero at the moment so this is going to be my silver finder and the vaquero will be my relic hunter

Well i got the battery pack and put it in the Spectrum, but there seems to be an issue. I put brand new C cells in and when it does the battery check it said its only at 5.9 volts. Its supposed to be a lot more than that right?

Nvm, i see that 6 volts is the highest it should be

i have the spectrum eagle. i use AA rechargables with C cell adapters that I made myself, but u can buy ready-mades pretty cheap. The Nimh AAs last about 5 hours. Obviously, 4 batteries will put out about 5-6 volts; the machined will tell you know when voltage is getting too low.

You have a very capable machine there. Mine will go about 9" on a quarter in a dirt pot, by swinging it fast, same as my old minelab sovereign elite. Don't swing too fast in trashy areas or you can miss signals due to recovery (which is adjustable but has performance limits); swing pretty darn fast in open areas where you want to go deep. It will go deep. Although the frequency range is small, changing frequencies can fix emf problems in my experience.

I just wanna get out and detect with the Eagle Spectrum! but it's in the single digits here unfortunately and there's snow on the ground. I did an air test the other day in my house with it, just to see how it was working, and I can tell this will be a deep machine on silver, which is mainly what i try to hunt
