Botton- Palm tree & crossed sword's ???

Found this in a known Civil War area. I am mystified. It looks eastern or could be a modern button. No maker mark on it.
Any one have a guess? I am in Alexandria, La. where there was a lot of action and the town was burned in 1864 by the dastardly Yankee soldiers.... About one inch in diam.
Thanks!
DG

I think that may be Arabic lettering, the palm tree and "scimitar type swords" as well..
As you mentioned it has a "middle eastern" look, almost Turkish look to it..

Pretty sure it's post CW..
I cant find anything close. The first things to come to mind with the Palm Tree are South Carolina, Haiti and the Phoenecians lol. It does have that Arabic look to it.

If you guys can't solve it, I will just toss it in the don't know box..

I think thats it. :icon_thumright: Good catch Grubb. My guess is an Arabian blazer button patterned after the Saudi Coat of Arms. . The casting is very poor. Coat_of_arms_of_Saudi_Arabia_svg.webp

That button is a bit hard to date precisely, but the crudeness might be more that it was made in a country other than Saudia or America, and I think it might not date older than 1950 , when the National Emblem was adopted but hard to say for sure, since there is much conflicting information on the web concerning the symbols of Saudi Arabia. Do want to add, it could be as old as early 1930s, when the entire country became establish as the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

I also have the coins with the crossed swords and Date Palm tree, rather nice coins. But I knew when I saw this post it was a familar looking symbol, lol, should have looked what was on top of my head today!
;D

Maybe we have already been invaded and did not know it?

:laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9:

I have no idea how it came to be in a cotton field that had been turned over several month ago......

Did you have any POW camps there during any war? You may have a very rare find indeed.
