Morgan is a common date and the bottles you found date turn of last century. Bottles are common and while neat not worth much. You can use any guide to rough grade your Morgan and get an approximate value.

Really?? Because you can buy a whole roll of brilliant uncirculated 1884 O Morgan dollars for less than $800 Lot of 20 1884 O $1 Morgan Dollars BU CH BU Roll | eBay. If what you think to be true was really true you could buy those, have them graded then resell them & make a killing but sadly you are very mistaken. You're Morgan isn't worth grading nor is it worth more than $35-$50, dealer value is $38.37 in uncirculated condition----> Rising Morgan Silver Dollar Values. NGC / PCGS MS 66 graded ones you can buy for $50 or less. Now you do have those suckers out there who pay a premium for fake or better said quickly rainbow toned coins. And I'm no Morgan expert so there might be an error 1884 O that I'm not aware of that could be worth more but I don't think so.

While I do agree with most of what inspectorgadget said, and I mean no disrespect, I would like to know where I can get one slabbed by NGC and graded at MS66 for $50. I mean that, I am looking to gather a graded collection and if I can find one for that price I would be very happy! Truth is for an MS66 you will be paying around $300 and that's all because of the higher grade. But other than that I think he was spot on!

Go to local auctions! I have never paid more that $50 for any graded Morgan of any year or grade (besides a few graded CC's I got one time). Sure they sell for more sometimes (alot more) but I don't buy them when they do!

MS 65's can be bought for as little as $100 on eBay this one went for $99 free shipping1884 O Morgan Silver Dollar ICG MS65 | eBay or this one U s Coins 1884 O Morgan Dollar MS 65 NGC 3378839 032 Bid Bid NGC Slabbed | eBay that one was listed at $215.95 but sold for $120

One of the auction I bought some of my graded Morgans at I also bought an 1880 Shield Nickel (in good condition at best) for $7 but what they sell for on eBay is pure madness!

And you can buy a whole roll of 20 BU 1884 O's on eBay for a tad less than $40 each. Again you could buy those & have the whole roll graded & make a good profit reselling them once graded (one MS66 in the bunch & that's $300ish on eBay right there) or any MS65's & you have a $100 to $150 coins. And I'm sure a whole roll of 20 BU 1884 O's can be bought at the right local auction for less than eBay price!

As a collector you are way better off finding a mint condition BU 1884 O yourself & send it off to be graded rather than pay $150-$300 for one already graded!

I live in Utah, but rest assured that if you can point me to an auction where I can buy PCGS or NGC Morgans graded at MS66 for $50 I will bring my bankroll and fly to where you are!

It doesn't quite work that way. The auctions you get these deals at are the auctions that have only 4-5 coins & a whole bunch of other stuff (especially on-site estate auctions) not so much auctions at an auction house, if the auction has 25-50 coins or more then the coin guys come out of the woodwork for them! The only Morgans that go consistently high at these auctions are CC's because just about everybody thinks CC's are gold! Sometimes the 1878's goes too high as well because people assume being a first year coin makes it worth a lot.

Right now in town is a group of guys from Texas who own antique stores down in Texas, they come here from Halloween till heavy snow hits (or is close to hitting) here with a fleet of trucks & they just buy & buy & buy up so much stuff at our local actions it's simply crazy! They say the same stuff at auctions where they are from goes for 3 times what they buy it here for!

So come on over here to Indy & check out what goes on here with auctions, you wont leave disappointed I promise ya that! There are so many auctions every single day within 30-50 miles of me it's beyond belief! If you did You would start making a habit of yearly Indy trips just to go to our auctions! People from Chicago, Louisville, Cincinnati & even as far as St Louis come to a certain auction here every single week!

Dang, and my brother is the one going to Indy all next week for work and not me! Well if I make it over there for work I will let you know and you can take me to some of these! We should now un-hijack this thread :)

Another example of a great buy I made recently... I got a very very close to uncirculated 1828 Bust half dollar for $60, it was loose on a flat with some foreign coins & a bag of 10 well circulated silver Washington quarters. I had them pull off the half & run it separately, nobody noticed or could see it well enough till it was to late! I showed it to a guy that sometimes buys coins there & he said "damn, if I had got a better look at that we would have been at war bidding on it". Another guy thought it was fake cause it was in such pristine condition (I even thought it was a fake at first) but I realized real fast it wasn't!

Thanks guys, I only spent a total of 2 minutes on google shopping and ebay and that's what I saw. I didn't think that was rite either though! thanks! now I know a definite answer.
