Bottle top?

It's all copper and is about two times the size of a normal bottle cap top. Just wondering if anyone knows what type of bottle this belongs to?
 

Can't tell if it can be screwed onto anything, but, other than that, it looks like an old engine soft plug.
thanks! It does look like it has 2 solid thread lines to be tightened onto something. This is a great guess I will research further!

Possibly a gas cap from an old tractor or hit & miss engine.

looks too thick and heavy (Lead ?) to be a Jar lid

but the Lines (although rudimentary looking) suggest it was made to Grip & turn

It looks like a cap for the end of a pipe to me, and those marks were left in the side by a large pipe wrench when it was tightened.
