Ok guys, I am new so.....
I found this bottle and tried to research it myself and came up with nothing. I found many like it but not one was exact. It does have a broken top. But I thought that if it is as rare I it seems to be, that it might be worth something.

Thanks for any help you might be able to give

I'm not a bottle expert, but I do search for them and have found quite a few in the woods and creeks. A lot of the ones I've found I couldn't find much info on. At the turn of the century there where a lot of little companies and most only lasted a short period of time, making it very hard to find any information on them. So with that said, just because there weren't a lot made, doesn't mean it's valuable.
Now as far as your bottle specifically, I couldn't tell you, but I hope that at least helps some.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to find the company who made the bottle and it seems they were big for a long time. But I couldn't find anything on this specific bottle with these markings. I too hope it is worth something. Thanks

If its broken it better be a one of a kind, otherwise:BangHead:no dice. One rule for bottle collecting,no cracks or breaks.

VIRGINIA'S BREWERIES AND BOTTLING COMPANIES
....or glass rot or flaking..in my guesstimate, it probably top ending at $1.00 its fairly modern, but like anything else beauty is in the eye of the beholder, akin to bromo seltzer bottles, worthless to a collector. However I can squeeze 25- 35 for 5 to the artsy crowd.

Thanks for the help guys. I found a person who was familiar with the manufacture. It is a rare bottle and even with the broken top, 35-45 dollars. Not anything one could get rich on but at least it is a find.
Thanks again

Portner Alexandria VA was a beer bottle...could have been a blob top but since its broken, its value's diminished significantly and you may be hard pressed to find a buyer...condition is key as with most collectibles
