These boots have intrigued me since Nana dug the first one.
Nana dug the one on the left and several weeks later I dug the one on the right at a spot 80 miles west of hers.
The first one was strange but when I dug the second one that far away I was like, this is too weird!

My Dad suggested a part of a window latch. What do ya'll think?

Now... that's a great mystery!

It sure looks like the window latch thing... and that would account for it being a little bit more common.

Is there a reason to think it's a "boot" rather than anything else?

I guess I'm just not thoroughly convinced. They just don't look as squared as the latch part. I also don't think the latch part would have a hole in the end of it but I could be wrong since you can't see the end in the latch picture.

I agree. The heel of the left boot appears to be the primer of a handgun round. Not that that is what it is, but, it certainly appears that way from the photo.

I too think it is very strange co-inky-dink that you both have dug such similar items. Good luck on the ID!!

The right one appears to have more 'relief' in the angle which could mean they are from different periods or mfg's.They both appear to have done their share of 'boot-scootin'.I believe they are some type of latch or maybe from some type of breech actuater.I hope this clears up any uncertainty that you have.haha

Back in the '60s there was a brand of boot that came with a key chain. They came in both Cowboy and Engineer styles. Tony
