booneville n.y.

Mike: It's spelled BOONVILLE. It's North of Utica NY. Old history in that area. Found a musket ball that was probably around the revolution. There was the Black River canal that fed into the Erie Canal way back that ran from above Boonville to Rome NY. I've done some detecting around the tow path and came up with a few seated liberty coins. Friend of mine got a 1853 half dime. People panned for gold years ago just South of Boonville. They have an annual Woodmans Field day there that brings wood cutters in from around the world. There are a few state parks in the area that have restricted detecting for a nominal fee. VFW is alive and well. Now that I mention it, I just might go there this weekend and have a cold one. Supposed to get around 90 tomorrow.....GET DIRTY
