Here are some books I did ok with:

king's daughters 1.webpking's daughters 2.webp
King's Daughter and Founding Mothers. Paid $.90 combined for both, sold for $50.00 plus shipping.

Nice score, deserdog! Why did you decide to buy these? I see books all the time at garage sales and auctions but I never buy any because I have no idea what to look for. I might buy a leather bound volume if it was in good shape and I could get it for a dollar but I have never seen that kind of situation. In absence of an obvious situation like that, I am clueless on what makes a book valuable. I would be most grateful for an education.

I don't have much experience when it comes to selling books but I am always looking for books on specific areas of collecting and non fiction historical type books like the ones the op posted above, if nothing else for my own collection. I have some decent ones but I don't really try to sell anything that I like, or contains information that I may need for the future.

What I look for are books of special interest, to a small group of people, that are probably not mass produced, not 100,000s made.

I recently sold another book, Airplane Construction and Repair, copyright 1931, 4th impression for $40.00, which included the shipping. I paid less than $3.00 for the book. This is another book that a small group of people would be interested in. And even though many of this book were made, there are not a whole lot of good copies around anymore.

Here is another example, books that almost have a cult following: Doc Savage books. I sold 7 of these paperback books for $28.00, and I paid $3.15 for them.

Speaking of paper airplanes. I did sell two copies of Peter Max's Paper Airplanes paperback book. One sold for around $20 and the other was closer to $30. Paid $1 each or maybe even .50, I don't remember.
