I was wondering if some of you experienced folks would share the names of a few books that you consider to be excellent resources for a "newb" to start learning about collecting and identifying native american projectile points.

I find myself getting very confused by the many different names and terms discussed here, and really want to find some really good books to help me "get up to speed."

I happen to be in New Hampshire, so I'd especially be interested in anything related to the New England states.

thanks in advance.

Get your hands on as many Archaeological Society Mags from your State. Old or new doesn't matter. You can find them at your local shows, as well as back ordering from your society, or on line. They will help you a bunch, and you will never get sick of reading them. Plus they are from your State you will be getting accurate info from the experts in your area.

Thanks everyone for some WONDERFUL links and recommendations!! I'll definitely be getting a few books after Christmas and have some good winter reading!

Keep up the advice - I bet there's more than a couple of us here who could use the tips.

Thanks again

One of the problems with the Overstreet book is the pricing guide...Some of the prices are so outrageous that it becomes hard to believe...also, in another thread here, typology is an issue...I like Overstreet as a general reference guide, but there are better books available...

may i suggest a local library or university. i think the info you find may be a bit more technical but more concise and helpful instead of listings of what things are worth monetarily.
