I’m planning a detecting trip to central Tennessee, south west of Franklin. As our area of search is not in any known battlefield, I’m looking for a book on troop movements post/ prior to battles. Would the book “Civil war atlas” have any of that information? We are basically looking for probable camp sites/ winter camps. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I'm here in Missouri, but have an extensive civil war library. let me know the area you are interested in and I can see what I come up with.

Wish I could help JoeD but I have not been more than 20 miles N of Chattanooga in some 20 years . Man ! that sounds
pitiful. Next to VA , TN had the most CW action so I know there is sites there .. GL

I’m pretty sure our permissions are about 10 miles due west, maybe even a tad north as well. Thanks for the reply

West- north west of Leipers fork Tennessee, thanks brother

Best of luck to you Joe on your CW hunting excursion to Tennessee. Here's hoping you return home with some nice CW finds and saves.

Most of the permissions we discussed are in the area South of Leiper's Fork near/bordering the Natchez Trace Parkway property.
