Man.... I am the last one who would know but if I had to guess... I would say ceremonial jewellery piece.... probably worn hanging from the neck of a high ranking person. Whatever it is its another awesome find by you! Thanks for sharing :icon_thumleft:

hey thanks air 80
glad to see you and your dog are back

Thank you sir. I took a break from the net but not from the hunt :) I t will take me a while to photo and post some of my better finds but I will get to it. Good to be back.

Possibly a shaman's sucking tube. During healing ceremonies shamans would use tubes like that to suck out the sickness from a patient's body. Or maybe it's just a bead... Do you know what type of bone it is?

I don't have a clue but it is as cool as all of your other finds. I always look forward to your posts - thanks so much for sharing.

Hey, larson...I don't know but I'd go along with runtee's suggestion if you lived in the southwest, the shaman of the navajo and pueblos used a tube like that to suck the sickness from a person...for proof, they would show a small bone bead that was supposed to be the sickness, a little sleight of hand, but if it made someone feel better.....

Maybe it slid over a piece of wood or something to form a handle. Very fine and straight. Stay warm and enjoy the Holiday.

It looks like a finished relic, but perhaps they were etching it to get little bone slabs? :dontknow:

Does that feel like bison bone, or is it different?

thanks you guys

I thought bone strips but I have never seen any like that in this field

I find many thinner strips with a hole drilled in one end to make bracelets, these were made from elk antlers
