I picked up this item at a shop last weekend. It appears to be an old knife, possibly a butter knife type broken out of its original haft, shaped, with a curved blade tip. The blade has a slight bend to the length. The handle is either bone or antler, split and the knife wedged into the split and pegs inserted.
I do not know what the pegs are made from or what they are termed in knife lingo.
Blade is approximately 5 1/2 inches in length not including bent tip area. 3 1/4 of the blade extends outward from the handle. On the blade is the text: WOSTENHOLM WASHINGTON SHEFFIELD ENGLAND. I*XL are on blade close to the handle.
Some of the letters are worn almost away, some are very faint.
Some has said this was a hoof pick to clean horse hoofs. I do not think so. We had three horses and I used picks to clean the hooves. The edge of this item is not like a hoof pick.
I posted query on another post focused on the blade text, see

How can I determine what the pegs are made from?
Any idea to the possible age?
