Bone Handle?

Found where a house was very late 1700s to 1860. Definitely best handle I've dug. Is it bone?

It certainly looks to have a bone handle, I've dug a few of these as well.
The bone protects the metal from breaking down, I'll often tumble these if the blade is intact, they make for a nice display.
